NEWS PREVIEW

Sydney Specials - April 21

The final day of G1 action at Randwick for the season is a day full of value.
Waiting until late in the day for the best with Arbeitsam ready to give Tulloch Lodge a feature winner over the Randwick carnival.
He was brave from the front winning the Neville Sellwood and then backed up a week later and ran a superb race in the Doncaster, fighting on when he looked gone from the rise.
Quite obviously this race is much easier and he can cross over from a wide draw, with a noted front running rider
In conceding he is up in weight, he has lumped big imposts before to victory. The key to Arbeitsam is just that he wants dry tracks so hoping for it to be good on Saturday.
Onto the Champagne Stakes where we see a race of contrasts. The vast majority contested the Sires Produce which was a mixed up race, full of hard luck tales and a huge priced maiden winner.
For that reason we are going to take one who didn’t run in the Sires as a great value chance.

Irukandji was probably ridden a bit upside down on his breeding but it paid dividends giving him a confidence building win in the G3 on Tancred day.
The Champagne is a staying race for the juveniles and as such you are more than happy to take something with staying bloodlines.
He is by Dundeel so at the end of the mile he should be as strong. From the good gate he won’t have to work nearly as hard and even if not leading, can race just off that pace.
In a race where there are many many hopes, we can back him at double figure odds each way.
